How to Link Aadhaar to Insurance Policy?

Though on 13 March 2018, the Supreme Court has already extended the deadline to link Aadhaar with various financial services including insurance policies indefinitely, there are many benefits of linking Aadhaar number with Insurance policy.



The Insurance Regulator and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) recommend all the insurers to link the new and existing insurance policies to the 12-digit unique identity number Aadhaar number. All life insurance companies have made provisions for their policyholders to link their policies and Aadhaar either offline or online as per their convenience.

  • Policy Number
  • Aadhaar number of policy holder
  • Permanent account number (PAN)/Form 60 or 61
  • KYC details, if changed

How to Link Aadhaar to Insurance Policy?

There are two options to Link Aadhaar to Insurance Policy i.e. Online & Offline:

Linking Aadhaar to Insurance Policies Online

  • Visit the website of your insurance company
  • Enter policy holder's following details
    • Policy Number
    • Permanent Account Number (PAN)
    • Date of Birth
    • Mobile Number
    • E-mail ID
    • Aadhaar number
  • After entering the above details, an OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to the registered mobile number of the policy holder
  • Enter the OTP in the required box
  • After entering the OTP, the Aadhaar Number will be linked to your insurance policy

Linking Aadhaar to Insurance Policies Offline

  • Visit the nearest branch of your insurance company
  • Take your Aadhaar Card and its self-attested copy
  • Submit it to the concerned officer along with your policy number to link it to your insurance policy
  • After submission, the Aadhaar Number will be linked to your insurance policy within couple of days
