How to Recharge FASTag?

First of all, you need to buy the FASTag. You can buy FASTag from any of the following mediums:

  • Point of Sale (PoS) locations at Toll Plazas
  • PoS outlets of the NETC Member Banks
  • Distribution agents
  • Sales offices
  • Apply online at the respective Member bank's website
  • At http://www.nhai.gov.in/#

After that you need to create your FASTag account or wallet to activate the FASTag sticker. Then you can get it recharged.

It is very easy to recharge FASTag. You can recharge FASTag in any of the following ways:

Online Recharge of FASTag & Offline Recharge of FASTag

Modes of Online Recharge of FASTag

FASTag can be recharged online through:

  • Credit Card
  • Debit Card
  • Auto Debit
  • UPI (Unified Payments Interface)
  • Cheque
  • Cash
  • NEFT
  • Net banking

Please note that if you recharge your FASTag online, then a convenience fee against transaction processing value will be charged by the respective bank.

Recharge FASTag through Auto Debit

You need to follow the simple steps as given below in order to recharge your FASTag account using Auto Debit:

  1. You can give a standing instruction to your bank to auto debit the money directly from your bank account and credit it to your FASTag wallet
  2. You should give your bank account details and the threshold amount to your bank for doing the needful

Recharge FASTag using Net banking

You need to follow the simple steps as given below in order to recharge your FASTag account using Net banking:

  1. Visit member bank's website with which you maintain your account
  2. Enter with your username and password
  3. Go to Recharge account
  4. Select "Payments" option
  5. Select Tag/CUG wallet recharge as applicable
  6. Choose the payment made as "Net banking" from the available options
  7. You will be taken to the payment gateway
  8. Enter your net banking credentials
  9. Recharge your wallet for the amount that you want using NEFT option
  10. You will be charged a convenience fee for processing the transaction
  11. Your wallet linked with FASTag will be charged after successful payment using net banking

Recharge FASTag through Credit Card

You need to follow the simple steps as given below in order to recharge your FASTag account using Credit Card:

  1. Visit member bank's website with which you maintain your account
  2. Enter with your username and password
  3. Go to Recharge account
  4. Select "Payments" option
  5. Select Tag/CUG wallet recharge as applicable
  6. Choose the payment made as "Credit Card" from the available options
  7. You will be taken to the payment gateway
  8. Enter your credit card credentials
  9. Recharge your wallet for the amount that you want
  10. You will be charged a convenience fee for processing the transaction
  11. Your wallet linked with FASTag will be charged after successful payment through your credit card

Recharge FASTag through Debit Card

You need to follow the simple steps as given below in order to recharge your FASTag account using Debit Card:

  1. Visit member bank's website with which you maintain your account
  2. Enter with your username and password
  3. Go to Recharge account
  4. Select "Payments" option
  5. Select Tag/CUG wallet recharge as applicable
  6. Choose the payment made as "Debit Card" from the available options
  7. You will be taken to the payment gateway
  8. Enter your debit card credentials & PIN
  9. Recharge your wallet for the amount that you want
  10. You will be charged a convenience fee for processing the transaction
  11. Your wallet linked with FASTag will be charged after successful payment through your debit card

Recharge FASTag through BHIM UPI

Vehicle owners have the opportunity to recharge their FASTags through any BHIM UPI-enabled mobile app on the go and avoid queues at toll plazas.

You need to follow the simple steps as given below in order to recharge your FASTag account using BHIM UPI:

  1. Log in to any BHIM UPI application
  2. Click on "send" to initiate transaction
  3. Put "netc.vehiclenumber@bankupihandle" in send to tab
  4. Verify the UPI ID
  5. Enter the amount you want to recharge
  6. Authenticate with your PIN

While you add your vehicle number for the UPI recharge transaction, please make sure that you add the correctbank UPI handle as per the bank list given below:

Recharge FASTag through Paytm

FASTag is basically an RFID tag that one needs to affix on the front windscreen of his/ her automobile to smoothly pass through toll gates on almost all the national highways and some state highways in India. It is an initiative launched by NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) under the guidelines of National Highways Authority of India and Indian Highways Management Co. Ltd for enabling easy automatic toll payments digitally across highways in India. From December 15, all vehicles, private or commercial, will need FASTags as per a government guidelines.

Paytm FASTag is a tag that works on RFID. The FASTag will be linked to your Paytm Payments bank account and Paytm wallet. Users can also manage and recharge the FASTag using Paytm by following simple steps:

  • Step 1: Open Paytm app
  • Step 2: Go to "More" tab
  • Step 3: Click on "City Services"
  • Step 4: Select "Toll & FASTag"
  • Step 5: Recharge FASTag by clicking on "Add Money to FASTag"
  • Step 6: Make the payment
  • Step 7: On successful payment, your FASTag will be recharged. You will receive a confirmation message on your mobile number after succesfull recharge of your Fastag

Recharge FASTag through Google Pay

You need to follow the simple steps as given below in order to recharge your FASTag account using Google Pay:

  1. Add your UPI handle to Google Pay
  2. Transfer Re 1 through UPI to your FASTag for testing purpose
  3. In a few seconds, you will get an SMS from your bank that your FASTag has been recharged for Re 1
  4. After getting this confirmation, you can recharge your FASTag with any amount that you want

Recharge FASTag through PhonePe

Road Transport and Highways ministry has already announced that FASTag has become mandatory for all the vehicles in the country from December 15, 2019. You have the option buy FASTags at select branches of any one of the 24-registered banks where you have your account. Alternatively, you can go for "Bank Neutral FASTags" which can be bought at Point-of-Sales on select petrol pumps or on an online platform such as Amazon. After buying the FASTag, it is necessary to activate it by entering vehicle details. After activating it, you need to recharge it.

PhonePe is a digital payments platform which uses UPI for processing digital transactions in India which is used for sending and receiving money, recharging DTH, mobile, making utility bill payments, etc. in an online mode.

Through PhonePe digital payments platform, you can recharge FASTag conveniently. At present, only a few FASTag issuing banks have been listed on PhonePe. Remaining banks will be added in a few days. Given below is a step-by-step process to recharge FASTag using PhonePe within a few minutes:

  • Step 1: Download PhonePe app & install it, if you have not downloaded it yet
  • Step 2: Log in to PhonePe app
  • Step 3: The homepage of PhonePe App, click on "To Contacts" tag to open page
  • Step 4: Then click at 'BHIM UPI ID' option in the header
  • Step 5: Add beneficiary BHIM UPI Id
  • Step 6: Click at 'Confirm' button to open the payment page
  • Step 7: Enter the amount and make payment from bank to complete FASTag recharge
  • Step 8: On successful payment, your FASTag will be recharged. You will receive a confirmation message on your mobile number after successful recharge of your FASTag

Offline Recharge of FASTag

You can get FASTag recharged through cash/cheque. This facility is available in selected point of sales (POS) locations at Toll Plazas, PoS outlets of the NETC Member Banks, Distribution agents and Sales offices.

Outlined below is the step-by-step process of offline recharge of FASTag:

  1. You need to visit any of the member banks authorised agent sales offices or Point of Sales (POS) locations
  2. First of all you need to have your FASTag account created
  3. You can deposit cash or cheque of the amount which you want for recharging FASTag
  4. Then your FASTag linked wallet will be recharged with the same amount

Minimum & Maximum Value for FASTag Recharge/ Top-up

FASTag account can be recharged in the denomination of Rs 100. The maximum amount of recharge is decided basis on the type of vehicle & account linked to FASTag as defined on the member bank's website. The FASTag account, for full KYC-compliant customers, can be recharged up to Rs 1 lakh or as determined by the bank or the UPI app. For non-KYC customers, the recharge limit is Rs.10,000 only.
