What is Stop Cheque Request?: A stop cheque request is a request by a banking customer to the bank to refuse to pay a cheque drawn on the customer's account and not to honour that particular cheque. This request can be placed when a particular cheque is issued by the customer but its payment has not yet been processed.

Reasons for Stop Cheque Request

  • Item received from the supplier is found defective

In order to place PNB Stop Cheque Request through SMS, you need to send one SMS to 5607040. This SMS should be sent from your registered mobile number. Following is the step-by-step process to place PNB stop cheque request through SMS:

  • Step (1): Type 'STPCHQ<Cheque No.> <16 digit Account No.>' in your registered mobile
  • Step (2): Send it to 5607040
  • Step (3): Confirmation message of stopping the cheque will be sent by the PNB to your registered mobile number through SMS. Standard SMS charges may apply when you send this SMS

In order to make PNB Cheque Status Enquiry through SMS, you need to send one SMS to 5607040. This SMS should be sent from your registered mobile number. Following is the step-by-step process to make PNB cheque status enquiry through SMS:

  • Step (1): Type 'CHQINQ <Cheque No.> <16 digit Account No.>' in your registered mobile
  • Step (2): Send it to 5607040
  • Step (3): Cheque Status will be sent by the PNB to your registered mobile number through SMS. Standard SMS charges may apply when you send this SMS

For Example: If 6 digit of Cheque No. are 444444 and your account number is 1234112233445555 then to make PNB cheque status enquiry through SMS, you need to send the following SMS:

How to Self Transfer the Funds through SMS?

In order to self Transfer the Funds through SMS, you need to send one SMS to 5607040. This SMS should be sent from your registered mobile number. Following is the step-by-step process to self Transfer the Funds through SMS:

  • Step (1): Type 'SLFTRF <From Account> <To Account> <Amount>' in your registered mobile
  • Step (2): Send it to 5607040
  • Step (3): Confirmation message of receiving your request will be sent by the PNB to your registered mobile number through SMS. Standard SMS charges may apply when you send this SMS

For Example: If your account number is 1234112233445555 and you want to transfer Rs 2000 to account number 2222333344445555 then to self Transfer the Funds through SMS, you need to send the following SMS:

SMS <SLFTRF 1234112233445555 2222333344445555 2000> to 5607040

Important Note: Daily limit for Self Transfer the Funds is Rs. 5000.
