SBI ATM Card Blocking through SMS Banking

ATM is an abbreviation for Automated Teller Machine. On opening of account by any customer, banks usually issue an ATM card which is a PIN-based card to the account holder. ATM/ Debit Card is required to make any non-cash transaction. ATM/ Debit card can be used at ATMs and point-of-sale (POS) terminals. There may be situations when you want to block ATM/ Debit card. There are several ways to block ATM/ Debit card as follows:
- ATM PIN generation through Netbanking
- ATM PIN generation by Calling Customer Care Centre
- By visiting any nearest State Bank Branch
- ATM PIN generation through SMS
How to Block SBI ATM Card through SMS Banking?
SBI offers you the option to generate your ATM Card PIN through SMS. For generating the ATM PIN, you are required to follow step by step process of generating SBI ATM PIN through SMS as outlined below:
- Send an SMS in the below mentioned format
- BLOCK <last 4 digits of ATM Card number>
- SMS to be sent to 567676
- Example: If last 4 digits of ATM Card number are 1111 then you need to SMS <BLOCK 1111> to 567676
Important Note for blocking SBI ATM Card through SMS Banking
- SMS should be sent from your SBI registered mobile number for blocking SBI ATM Card
- If your mobile number is not registered with SBI, first get it registered before sending the SMS for blocking SBI ATM Card
- If your old mobile number is registered with bank which is no longer being used, you need to get your existing mobile number updated with SBI before sending the SMS for blocking SBI ATM Card
Charges of Using SBI SMS Banking Service
- Premium charges will be levied, if the SMS is sent on 6 digit number i.e. 567676
- For 10 digit numbers , the customer will be charged as per his mobile bill plan
