SBI ATM PIN Generation through SMS Banking

ATM PIN is required to make any transaction through ATM/ Debit Card. In order to provide more security, ATM PIN is issued by the banks to enable ATM card usage at ATMs and point-of-sale (POS) terminals. There may be situations when you want to change or generate ATM PIN. There are several ways to generate ATM PIN as follows:

  • ATM PIN generation through Netbanking
  • ATM PIN generation by Calling Customer Care Centre
  • ATM PIN generation through ATM
  • ATM PIN generation through SMS
  • ATM PIN sent through PIN mailers by bank

State Bank of India has introduced 'SBI Green PIN' to provide its customers the facility to generate their ATM PIN/ debit card PIN in a simple, fast and convenient manner that too at their own comfort. With this facility, you can generate, reset or change a PIN through an SMS without worrying.

How to Generate SBI ATM PIN through SMS Banking?

SBI offers you the option to generate your ATM Card PIN through SMS. For generating the ATM PIN, you are required to follow step by step process of generating SBI ATM PIN through SMS as outlined below:

  1. Send an SMS in the below mentioned format
  2. PIN <last 4 digits of ATM Card number> <last 4 digits of Account Number>
  3. SMS to be sent to 567676
  4. Example: If last 4 digits of ATM Card number are 1111 and last 4 digits of Account Number are 2222, then you need to SMS <PIN 1111 2222> to 567676
  5. SBI will send an OTP on your registered mobile number which will be used to generate or change Debit Card PIN
  6. As this OTP will be valid for 2 days, you should use the OTP to change the SBI Debit Card PIN/ ATM PIN at any ATM within these 2 days

Important Note for Generating SBI ATM PIN through SMS Banking

  • SMS should be sent from your SBI registered mobile number for generating SBI ATM PIN
  • If your mobile number is not registered with SBI, first get it registered before sending the SMS for genarating SBI ATM PIN
  • If your old mobile number is registered with bank which is no longer being used, you need to get your existing mobile number updated with SBI before sending the SMS for genarating SBI ATM PIN
  • It is advised to use the OTP to change/ generate the SBI Debit Card PIN/ ATM PIN within 24 hours from receiving the OTP
  • You can use SMS and OTP for both generation and change of ATM PIN

Charges of Using SBI SMS Banking Service

  1. Premium charges will be levied, if the SMS is sent on 6 digit number i.e. 567676
  2. For 10 digit numbers , the customer will be charged as per his mobile bill plan
