- Or, if born between July 1, 1987 and December 3, 2004, at least one parent must be an Indian citizen
- It must have been issued by a recognized authority, which can be the municipality, cantonment board, etc.
For Citizenship Certificate
- It must have been issued under the Citizenship Act, 1955
- It must have been granted to individuals who acquired Indian citizenship by registration or naturalization
- Must be issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (HMA)
Hence, if challenged, a valid birth or citizenship certificate can help protect your rights.
A passport may also be used as a citizenship proof, but may require additional documents as well.
