ATM card is a proprietary card of a Bank and can be used on ATMs for doing transactions on our Bank ATMs and shared banks ATMs. Apart from that, you may also be able to use it to make purchases, if the merchant is using one of the same electronic ATM networks which is also listed on the back side of your ATM card.

A debit card is a card that has direct access to your Bank account. The card is just like a money purse in cardholder pocket. Debit card reduces the risk of carrying cash. The debit card can be used for purchases at Merchant Establishments.

An ATM card is a PIN-based card. You can use it at ATMs and additionally, you may also be able to use it to make purchases, if the merchant is using one of the same electronic ATM networks which is also listed on the back side of your ATM card. A debit card has direct access to your Bank account. You can use it at ATMs. The main difference is that a debit card has a Visa or Mastercard logo on its face which enables you to use it wherever Visa or Mastercard debit cards are accepted.

RuPay Card is an Indian version of credit/debit card. It is similar to international cards such as Visa/Master Card. RuPay is a combination of two words - Rupee and Payment. It has been introduced to fulfil the Reserve Bank of India's desire to have a domestic, open loop, and multilateral system of payments in India. RuPay cards are offered by public sector, private banks, co-operative and rural banks.

You can access them in the 1.45 lakh ATMs, 8.75 lakh POS terminals and 10,000 e-commerce websites. All Rupay Chip debit cards are valid for domestic transactions only.

RuPay cards have been customized keeping in mind the product and service requirements of Indians. RuPay card has a lower transaction cost compared with regular debit/credit cards since the processing will be done within the country. Also, transactions will be faster. It has a greater reach in Rural Areas.

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) initiated the launch of RuPay card in India.

Salient features on Debit Card are as follows

  • Debit card issued by our Bank is in association with VISA/ Rupay and governed by the rules and regulations of Visa/NPCI.
  • The Debit card can be used for withdrawal of cash through all ATMs and for making purchases at merchant locations.
  • Debit cards can be used on internet for booking railway tickets or any other online transactions.

PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a secret 4 digit code number referred to as ATM-PIN, which is assigned by the Bank to the Cardholder. The Cardholder will use the PIN to avail ATM services using the card. Cardholder should ensure that the PIN mailed by the Bank is received in a sealed envelope without any tampering.

  • Any individual having rights to operate any of the eligible accounts (Eg: Savings Bank / Current Account) and fulfilling the other criteria prescribed by the Bank, from time to time are eligible for applying for ATM/ Debit Card.
  • Mandate/Power of attorney holders are not eligible for issue of ATM/Debit Card.
  • Accounts operated jointly with minors as joint depositors, proprietary and Partnership accounts, Company Accounts, Trust accounts etc are not eligible.
  1. Through SMS: SMS syntax for blocking ATM/Debit Card of your bank.
  2. Through e-mail: An email can be sent to your bank's email id.
  3. Through Customer Care Number: Call to customer care number for instant blocking of the card.

If your Debit Card is not working and you are unable to make any transaction through your debit card, you must call to your Customer Care Number from your registered mobile number and register your complaint.

CVV2 number is the three-digit number printed on the back of the card (near the magnetic strip). The CVV2 number is always the last group of numbers on the back of the card. Banks issue debit cards with a secret numerical code known as CVV2. To fulfil any online transaction, carried out through E-Commerce portals and merchant websites (which are enabled for Verified by Visa transactions), cardholder needs to enter the CVV2 code to complete the transaction.

Usually the card will be automatically un-blocked next day in many cases. Alternatively, you can Unblock your Debit Card PIN through your Internet Banking Account or visit your Branch and request for a new PIN.

You can change your Debit Card PIN in the following ways

  • Through the ATM Machine
  • Through your Internet Banking with transaction password

Point of Sale (POS) terminals are deployed/ installed at Merchant Establishments (ME) i.e. shops, malls, petrol pumps etc. For making any payment, debit card is swiped on these terminals and the amount is entered. The transaction is processed and the customer's primary account linked with the Debit card is debited online.

OTP stands for One Time Password. This password can be used only once for a single transaction using your debit card.

Yes, usually almost all the banks send intimation of every Debit Card transaction done, through SMS on your registered mobile number and email on your registered email id.

Verified by Visa (VbV) is a service from VISA that lets to shop online securely with the existing Visa Debit card. It gives the extra protection and peace of mind while shopping online. This service is usable only on verified by Visa merchant websites through a simple checkout process, confirms your identity when you make purchases on the Internet. The Visa transaction will only be authorized when the card-holder supply the password.

EMV is a global standard for credit and debit payment cards based on chip card technology" taking its name from the card schemes Europay, MasterCard, and Visa - the original card schemes that developed it. Unlike magnetic stripe transactions, where typically only the card's track 2 data containing the card number and expiry date is processed, every chip card transaction contain dozens of pieces of information to be exchanged between the card, the terminal and the acquiring bank or processors host. This requires the terminal to perform many stages of complex processing, including cryptographic authentication, to successfully complete a transaction. With EMV & PIN your transactions are even more secure.

With an International Debit Card, the card holder can make online purchases, make payments on POS and withdraw money from ATMs in India or abroad. As the domestic card is valid within India only, with a Domestic Debit Card, the card holder is not able to withdraw money from ATM abroad nor can he make international online purchases or POS payments internationally.

You must immediately call the customer care number or give a complaint letter to your debit card issuing bank branch & get an acknowledgement. They will process your case. If the investigation is in your favour, the amount will be reversed to you account within 7 to 10 working days.

3D Secure PIN is a 6 digit numeric PIN which is useful to protect your Debit Card usage while doing the transactions through the internet/ online transactions. It is needed to safeguard your internet purchases while you're using your Debit Card at participating merchant websites. It will prevent unauthorised usage of your Debit Card on the internet and offer you more security.

Generally, the card holder receives the new debit card in one month advance of the month in which the old card is getting expired. In case, you do not receive the new card one month before the expiry of your existing card, you should call your bank's Customer Care from your registered mobile number for knowing the status of the new card.
