What is Give Up LPG Subsidy?

In India, the Indian Government offers subsidy on LPG Gas Cylinders. A person can receive subsidy only on 12 cylinders of 14.2 kg each or 34 bottles of 5 kg each in a year.

In order to help a BPL family to get an LPG connection, a person can come forward and opt to give up subsidy on LPG. It is completely choice based scheme and no one will be enforced for it.

'GiveItUp' movement of LPG Subsidy was launched on March 27, 2015 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in Delhi. Through this movement all countrymen, who can afford it, have been appealed to come forward and give-up their LPG subsidy. 'GiveItUp' is a truly pioneering & innovative program.



The names of the persons, who have opted out of LPG Subsidy, with their permission will be put in the 'Scroll of Honour' in order to value their involvement in the 'GiveItUp' movement.

The government has got decent success regarding foregoing of LPG subsidy, with over 1.3 crore households giving up their cooking gas subsidy so far. India has over 15.35 crore LPG connections.

How to Give-Up LPG Subsidy of Indane?

You can give-up LPG Subsidy in any of the following ways:

  1. Through mylpg.in or giveitup.in micro sites
  2. By Sending SMS
  3. Through Web Portal of Indane Gas
  4. Through Mobile App
  5. By Submitting Give-Up Subsidy Form to your Distributor

How to Give-Up LPG Subsidy of Indane Through mylpg.in or giveitup.in micro sites?

  1. Visit the Official portal mylpg.in or giveitup.in
  2. On the top of the webpage, click on the option "Give Up LPG Subsidy Online"
  3. Select your service provider i.e. Indane
  4. Corresponding page will open
  5. Enter your details if you are a registered user
  6. If you have not registered online, enter your LPG details in the space provided to get started
  7. Log in the portal through your login credentials
  8. Follow the required steps
  9. You will be able to successfully surrender your Indane LPG Subsidy

How to Give-Up LPG Subsidy of Indane By Sending an SMS?

  1. You need to send an SMS: "GIVEITUP" to 8130792899
  2. You will be able to successfully surrender your Indane LPG Subsidy

How to Give-Up LPG Subsidy of Indane Through Web Portal of Indane Gas?

  1. Visit official website of Indane by clicking on https://indane.co.in/optout_inf.php
  2. At the bottom of the page, you will find 2 boxes
  3. One box is for the registered users and the other one for the users who are not registered with Indane
  4. If you are not a registered user then go to the box for "users who are not registered with Indane" and enter your details like 17-digit LPG ID & Captcha Code to create your login credentials


  5. If you are a registered user then go to the box for "registered users" and enter your login credentials

  6. Enter the "Captcha" code
  7. Click on "Submit" button
  8. You will be able to successfully surrender your Indane LPG Subsidy

How to Give-Up LPG Subsidy of Indane Through Indane Mobile App?

  1. A Mobile application named "Indane" is available for LPG consumers on Android and iphones with options to book Refill cylinder.
  2. Download the app for iphones from Apple Store by clicking on https://itunes.apple.com/in/app/indane-gas/id964410971?mt=8


  3. Download the app from Playstore for Android Mobile by clicking on https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.indanegas&hl=en


  4. Install the application by selecting 'Indane'.
  5. Once application is downloaded, search for give-up subsidy & submit the details such as consumer number, LPG ID, etc.
  6. You will be able to successfully surrender your Indane LPG Subsidy

How to Give-Up LPG Subsidy of Indane By Submitting Give-Up Subsidy Form to your Distributor?

  1. You need to procure form called "Mandate for Giving Up LPG Subsidy"
  2. Fill up the form properly and write following data in the form:
    • Name of distributor
    • District
    • State
    • Tick on the Name of gas company i.e. Indane
    • Consumenr Number
    • 17-digit LPG ID
    • Consumer's Name
    • POI Category Code (write code of the document that you are attaching to the form out of the documents mentioned at the bottom of the form)
  3. You need to attach a copy of one of the documents from Aadhaar Card, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID Card, ID issued by Centre/ State or Driving License
  4. Consumer has to sign the form and also mention Date & Place
  5. Submit the form alonwith the required document to respective distributor
  6. You will be able to successfully surrender your Indane LPG Subsidy
