In India, there is no restriction of age for enrolling for Aadhaar. Even newborn or infant babies can have an Aadhaar.

Presently, it is not compulsory for child to have an Aadhaar but it is good if the parents enrol Aadhaar for their children because having an Aadhaar would certainly make their life easier in the future as Aadhaar acts as both the proof of identity and proof of address.

Aadhaar for a child is also known as 'Baal Aadhaar' and its color is blue for child having age of less than 5 years. Normal Aadhaar Card is issued to child who are aged above 5 years. Some renowned hospitals have already started to get newborns enrolled for Aadhaar. Such hospitals try to hand over the Aadhaar acknowledgement slips while providing birth certificates to the parents.

Mentioned below is the Step by Step Process of Applying for Aadhaar Card:

  1. Go to the nearest enrolment centre
  2. Procure and fill up the Aadhaar Enrolment Form
  3. Supporting documents (as per above table) need to be attached to the enrolment form
  4. Submit the form along with all the necessary documents to the authorised person in the enrolment centre
  5. If the child is above 5 years old, get his/ her biometrics done
  6. Obtain the acknowledgement slip having the Aadhaar enrolment number
  7. The Aadhaar Card of the child will be despatched to the address within 90 days

How to Apply for Child's Aadhaar Card for Child above 5 years of Age?

Mentioned below is the Step by Step Process of Applying for Aadhaar Card for child above 5 years of Age:

  1. Go to the nearest enrolment centre
  2. Fill up the Aadhaar Enrolment Form and write your aadhaar number on the form
  3. Required documents (as per above table) have to be attached to the enrolment form
  4. Submit the form to the authorised person in the enrolment centre
  5. Get child's biometrics done which includes 10 fingerprints, iris and facial photograph
  6. Obtain the acknowledgement slip having the Aadhaar enrolment number along with the time and date of the enrolment
  7. You can check the status of Aadhaar with the help of this acknowledgment slip
  8. The Aadhaar Card of the child will be despatched to the address within 90 days
  9. Please note that child is required to get his/ her photo and biometrics captured again after turning 15
