How to Link Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account?

It is mandatory for each employee who contributes to PF account to link aadhaar with UAN and PF account, as per the guidelines issued by the EPFO (Employee Provident Fund Organisation). Every employee who is having his PF account with EPFO is allotted a UAN (Unique Account Number). If you also have your PF account opened by your employer lying with EPFO, then you must also be having a UAN issued to you. You can link your aadhaar with UAN and PF Account either in online mode or in offline mode.

Link Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account (Online Mode)

EPFO has provided a facility to its all members to link their Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account online by visiting its website. Following step-by-step process mentioned below, you will be able to link Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account online:

  1. Visit the EPFO web portal https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/
  2. Login to you account (member e-sewa) using your UAN, password and captcha code
  3. Click on "Manager" tab in the upper menu
  4. Select KYC option
  5. Then one page will appear which will show you a number of documents to link with your PF account such as bank, PAN, passport, drivind license, etc.
  6. Out of those, select the Aadhaar (tick the check box)
  7. Enter your Aadhaar number and your name as per your Aadhaar card
  8. Click on the "Save" option
  9. Your request will appear under pending KYC till it does not get verified
  10. After that your aadhaar will be verified from UIDAI's data
  11. On successful verification, your aadhaar will be linked with UAN and PF account
  12. Once linked, "Verified" will be mentioned against your Aadhaar details

Link Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account (Offline Mode)

For those who do not find linking Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account through an online mode convenient, there is also one mode offered by EPFO through which you can link your Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account by visiting EPFO office personally. Following step-by-step process mentioned below, you will be able to link Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account offline:

  1. Visit the EPFO office near your location
  2. Obtain Aadhaar Seeding Application form
  3. Fill in the form. Mention your UAN and aadhaar in the form. Mention other details as asked in the form
  4. You need to attach self attested photo copies of UAN, Aadhaar card and PAN with the form
  5. Submit the form along with the required documents to the EPFO office
  6. On successful verification, your aadhaar will be linked with UAN and PF account
  7. A message of linking your Aadhaar with UAN and PF account will then be sent on your registered mobile number

Benefits of Linking Aadhaar with UAN and PF Account

The major benefit is that your PF claims can be settled very quickly, if your Aadhaar is linked with UAN. You can also transfer your funds from one PF account to another PF account easily without the need of attestation from your employer. It will not only eliminate fake accounts but will also bring in transparency into the system.
