Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM)?

Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) is a payment platform to enable fast and secure cashless transactions using Unified Payment Interface (UPI) and USSD modes in a simpler way across all types of mobile phones. BHIM app is named after the architect of our Indian Constitution, Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar.

This new service launched by Mr. Narendra Modi Prime Minister of India, on December 30, 2016. BHIM app has been developed by National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) and supported by majority of banks in India.


Key Features of BHIM App:

  1. Transfer of money to a person using his mobile number only
  2. No need of smart phone, any feature phone is enough
  3. No need of internet
  4. Registration of the payee is not required
  5. Apart from UPI PIN, you can transfer the funds using your fingerprints also
  6. Transfer of fund is also possible through QR code
  7. You can also check your bank account balance
  8. Different from e-wallets as you don't need to load it with money
  9. Available in Hindi and English languages
  10. Can be downloaded from Google Play Store
  11. Available only on the Android platform

BHIM app can be downloaded from Google Play Store by searching for BHIM by national payment corporation of India or using directly the URL https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.org.npci.upiapp . The app is currently available in Hindi and English languages.

Limitation: Maximum 10,000 per transaction and 20,000 within 24 hours.

It is currently not available for iPhone or windows phone.
